Ciabe is a tool for web sites that lets you offer your users key social networking features to without having to ask them to set up their information again. We provide a complete social network that you can "plug into" your site rather than rebuilding for yourself. This portable network spans sites, and enables people to bring their friends with them as they move around the internet. All features are available via REST APIs or pre-built UI, letting you get up to speed quickly but providing a path to deeper integration. Best of all, you get to keep the data.

It features:

  • A portable, cross-site "friends list". When a user joins your site, Ciabe can identify friends from other sites who are already on this site, so they can be friends there as well. It is possible for two users to be friends on one site, but not on others.
  • Portable Groups, featuring member roles, that forms the basis of a cross-site permissions system. This feature lets people set up their relationships once and use them on all Ciabe enabled sites. Groups also help solve the "boss is on my buddy list" problem
  • A portable contact list / address book
  • A contact importer that helps the user build their social network and get started with Ciabe.

I have to set it up AGAIN?

Your site works better when your users set up their networks, but they've already done it so many times that it's hard to convince them to do it again. Ciabe solves this by letting them set it up and use it on multiple sites.

Real world connections are messy, and your users sometimes end up connected to some people where they don't feel like they can speak freely. Ciabe solves this by providing cross-site groups. Your users only need to say "this person is a business contact, that one is family" once and that data is available everywhere.
